Jackie lives in Hull, East Yorkshire with her husband Dennis, a retired accountant.
She believes that theatregoers are spoilt for choice in Hull, with the well-established Hull New Theatre, Hull Truck Theatre and Hull City Hall being just three venues whose often award-winning productions draw in the crowds.
Jackie's love of the theatre began in childhood, thanks to her seamstress mother making the costumes for many a local pantomime. "Yes," says Jackie, "the memory of Widow Twankey’s drawers hanging from our living room picture rail, alongside, say, a wolf’s head in a bonnet, still makes me smile!"
Therefore, working for more than 20 years at her local newspaper, the Hull Daily Mail, was often a labour of love where reviews were concerned. Food, travel, books, beauty products, CDs, TV programmes etc, all came under Jackie's scrutiny, but for her, nothing topped the countless theatre productions she reviewed over the years.
Jackie hopes that her reviews entertain and inform regular theatregoers as well as encourage those who have never set foot inside a theatre, to do so.
