Kathryn’s love for performance began at an early age with elocution lessons (designed to rid her of her broad Belfast accent no doubt) by well meaning parents, in what would probably nowadays be regarded as a racist attack on her roots! Nevertheless, the opportunity to engage an audience and move them was revealed and has continued to enthrall her ever since.
Since graduating in English and Art History, Kathryn has worked in PR and Marketing for many years, particularly relishing the communications element.
Kathryn loves the unique experience that live theatre provides – a one-off performance, never quite the same as the next, where cast, crew and audience engage together to create a living thing, with direct feedback providing the catalyst.
A performer with many local amateur groups in recent years, Kathryn’s most recent role was as Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! with Long Eaton Operatic Society. When not treading the boards herself, she loves to see as much theatre as possible and is looking forward to writing more about her favourite hobby via Downstage Centre.
